Offspring, Blink-182 members comment on producer's death
Members of the Offspring and Blink-182 issued statements regarding the death of producer Jerry Finn, who passed away last week at the age of 39. Finn suffered a massive brain hemorrhage last month, with his family deciding to take him off life support two weeks ago. Offspring vocalist Dexter Holland wrote, "We worked with Jerry in the studio many times over the years, and he produced the songs "Can't Repeat" and "Next To You" for our Greatest Hits album. He was a pleasure to be around and we are thankful for the time we were able to spend with him. Jerry left his mark on countless great records, and he will be missed."
Former Blink-182 and current Plus 44 bassist/singer Mark Hoppus posted an emotional statement on his blog, saying in part, "I'm sitting here now and I don't even know what to type. I'm at a loss for words. Nothing I can say will come close to describing what an amazing human being Jerry was. His talent, his laughter, his love of life. Every day I spent with Jerry over the past ten years I feel like he taught me something new about music, or recording, or life...Jerry, I miss you already."
Among the records Finn either produced or engineered were Blink-182's Enema of the State and Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, Plus 44's When Your Heart Stops Beating, Green Day's Dookie, A.F.I.'s Sing the Sorrow, and numerous others.
