Queen + Paul Rodgers annouce release date for first studio album

Queen + Paul Rodgers will release their first collaborative studio album, The Cosmos Rocks, on October 14th. Fans can log on to Queenonline.com and hear the album track "Say It's Not True," which was previously released at the end of last year as a special World Aids Day download for Nelson Mandela's 46664 HIV AIDS charity. All but one of the tracks on The Cosmos Rocks were written by Queen's Brian May and Roger Taylor along with Rodgers during recording sessions in late 2007 and early 2008. The remaining track is a first for a Queen album -- an unidentified cover tune.

Queen's last studio album, 1995's Made in Heaven, featured the final recordings of original vocalist Freddie Mercury, who died of AIDS in 1991. The band hooked up with Rodgers for a live television performance in late 2004 and things went so well they decided to continue touring together.
