Scott Weiland sets release date for second solo album
Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland has set November 18th as the release date for his second solo album, titled Happy. Five tracks from the disc have been made available via email to the press, with titles including "Paralysis," "She's So Cold," "Talk About Love," "Somedays" and "Missing Cleveland." Weiland is releasing the CD through his own label, Softdrive Records, with distribution through New West. Happy follows up his 1998 solo debut, 12 Bar Blues.Weiland told us that Happy is a natural progression from 12 Bar Blues, saying, "It'll definitely be a sonic journey like the first album was, a little bit more focused since I'm not on a narcotic journey like I was on the last one."
Stone Temple Pilots reunited in April for a major summer tour after a six-year hiatus, just as Weiland was dismissed from Velvet Revolver for erratic behavior.
STP rose to stardom in the 1990s, but its career was derailed by Weiland's drug problems and arrests.
The reactivated group performs on Wednesday night (September 3rd) in Sacramento, California, with the tour expected to last through Halloween.
