Sixx A.M. prepping second album as debut receives more acclaim
Sixx A.M. is preparing to work on its second album, but the band's 2007 debut disc and the book it supported, Nikki Sixx's The Heroin Diaries, are still getting acclaim and airplay a full year after their release. According to Billboard.com, the Motley Crue bassist recently received a Prism Award from the Entertainment Industries Council for his accurate portrayal of addiction on the album. Meanwhile, the CD's latest single, "Tomorrow," has been selected as one of the themes for National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month.Sixx told us that he's been thrilled and affected by the response to the record, the book and the message in songs like "Accidents Can Happen": [

You know, the message in 'Accidents Can Happen'...don't feel bad about yourself, you make a mistake, get back up and do it again -- a lot of people, especially young people, really relate to that. I've heard this more than once is: 'I wish my parents could have said that to me.' And I just say to them I wish the same for myself." Sixx plans to continue his own efforts to promote sobriety and create awareness of Recovery Month.
The Heroin Diaries will be issued in paperback on October 28th.
A post by Sixx: A.M. member D.J. Ashba said in a recent post that after "a little break," it's "right back into the studio to work on the next Sixx: A.M. album." There's no word yet on a possible title or release date.
Sixx: A.M. and Motley Crue both just finished up this summer's Crue Fest over the weekend. The Crue will take a month off before heading to Mexico, Argentina and Japan in October.
