Oasis kicks off North American tour
Oasis kicks off its new North American tour on Wednesday night (December 3rd) in Oakland, California, the British act's first trip here since guitarist Noel Gallagher was assaulted and injured onstage by a concertgoer in Toronto in early September. Gallagher told RollingStone.com that he's fully recovered from his injuries and shrugged off the attack, saying, "It's a meaningless act. Something always happens to me on Oasis tours. I was in a car crash. If it's not that, it's getting f***ing busted. If it's not that, it's coming down with some ancient f***ing disease that's not been got by anybody for the last 600 years."Oasis is touring behind its seventh studio album, Dig Out Your Soul, although the band has yet to repeat the massive success it first had in the U.S. during the 90s. Gallagher says he enjoys touring here, but when asked what Oasis has to offer to an American teenager seeing them for the first time, he said, "Nothing. Don't come and see us if you're expecting anything. I can't offer anybody anything apart from the music that's coming out of the speakers. And if they listen to that and they find some meaning in the songs, good for them."
As for what diehard fans can expect at the shows on this tour, Gallagher said, "I can assure you this: I am f***ing brilliant every night I go out there. I could give a f*** about anybody else in the band. They look after themselves. But I am always cooking on a solid eight-and-a-half out of 10."
