Rock quick hits

A doctor has issued a report in the British Medical Journal stating that headbanging can be hazardous to your health. Dr. Andrew McIntosh, a biomedical and injury expert at the University of New South Wales, warned in his report, "We identified a definite risk of mild traumatic brain injury from headbanging. We would suggest a proper public health warning, as for smoking." McIntosh suggests that fans wear neck braces when headbanging to avoid injuring themselves. (NME.com)

Ex-Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler was told by a judge on Friday (December 19th) that he will spend more time in rehab. Appearing in a Los Angeles courtroom, Adler was ordered into a state clinic to avoid prison time after missing an earlier court date the week before. Adler claimed he missed the appearance because he was completing yet another detox program. All this stems from a drug arrest this past summer. Meanwhile, Adler's last episode of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew aired on VH1 last week -- in which, ironically, he "graduated" from the program. (Associated Press)

Nickelback has emerged on top in a new Village Voice survey of worst song lyrics of 2008, according to The Daily Swarm. The Canadian quartet took the prize for the lyrics to "Something In Your Mouth," the latest single from their recently released new CD, Dark Horse.
