New U2 single hits airwaves
U2's new single, "Get On Your Boots," hit radio and iTunes on Monday (January 19th) as the band played over the weekend at pre-inaugural festivities for Barack Obama and also unveiled the track list for its upcoming album, No Line On The Horizon. The song premiered on Dublin radio at the same time that it was sent out to radio stations worldwide and was posted for sale at iTunes. The track is also streaming at U2's official website, U2.com. Billboard.com described the tune as reminiscent of "Achtung Baby-era U2, particularly rockers like 'The Fly.'"U2 will perform the song live for the first time on February 18th at the Brit Awards in London.
No Line On The Horizon is due out on March 3rd. The group also unveiled the cover art for the disc, which depicts a body of water meeting the sky, with an equal sign across the center of the picture.
According to Billboard, sources said that U2 recorded enough songs for an entire additional album, but there's no word on if any of that music will surface. Material recorded previously with producer Rick Rubin was scrapped.
U2 performed on Sunday (January 18th) at a pre-inauguration concert at the Lincoln Memorial, alongside Bruce Springsteen, Beyonce, and others.
