AC/DC fans scammed with fake tickets
AC/DC's concert in Birmingham, England is the subject of a police investigation after counterfeiters left many fans without tickets last Friday (April 24th).According to Sunday Mercury, hundreds of fans, some of them young children, were refused entry to the venue at the NEC's LG Arena after concert organizers realized that their tickets were fake.
The organizers told the disappointed fans that their tickets, costing about 50 British pounds, were part of a counterfeit scam. Fans with genuine tickets were stuck in queues that built up outside the arena, causing them to miss the beginning of the show.
Those who were conned said that although their tickets did not exist, their cash has been taken from their account.
Two men were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud and were interrogated by officials. Further investigation into Internet fraud is ongoing.
A spokeswoman for the NEC (National Exhibition Center) told the Sunday Mercury, "West Midlands Police are now investigating this matter. Regrettably the tickets in question were fraudulent so we had no choice but to refuse these fans entry."
The Birmingham concert was part of the band's "Black Ice World Tour".
