Green Day cities and dates for 2009 summer tour announced
Green Day has announced the dates and cities for the first North American leg of its upcoming world tour, which will begin on July 3rd in Seattle and finish up on August 25th in Los Angeles. The venues in each city have yet to be finalized. This will be Green Day's first run through the U.S. and Canada in three years as the band hits the road in support of its new album, 21st Century Breakdown. The group recently performed the "three-act" concept album in its entirety at four secret shows for hometown fans in the San Francisco/Oakland area.
21st Century Breakdown arrives on May 15th. The first single, "Know Your Enemy," is out now.
Green Day will bring out three additional musicians to fill out the trio's sound on stage. If the shows on the upcoming tour follow the pattern of the recent club dates, the band will play the new album in its entirety before churning through a second set of oldies and hits.
