Nikki Sixx calls Sixx A.M. songs "inspiring"
Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx has posted an update at his website on the progress of the second album from his side project, Sixx A.M., writing, "The new songs for Sixx: A.M. are all so inspiring, It feels like we may have topped ourselves on this album coming up, and can't wait for you to hear what it sounds like. Keep an ear and an eyeball here and maybe a surprise might get dropped in the next few months . . . "
Sixx also wrote about his latest hobby, photography, saying, "I've done about six full shoots and six smaller still-life shoots as well. I've displayed some of it on my MySpace under 'Nikki Sixx Photography,' but by no means comes even close to what I have created or have plans for as a photographer."
The debut album from Sixx: A.M. was released in 2007 as a "soundtrack" to Sixx's memoir, The Heroin Diaries. The record featured the surprise rock radio hit, "Life Is Beautiful."
Sixx recently said that the next Sixx: A.M. album would also be a concept disc.
Although Sixx and partners James Michael and D.J. Ashba conceived Sixx: A.M. as a studio project, they did put together a touring version of the group which made its debut on last summer's Crue Fest.
Sixx and the rest of Motley Crue will head out on Crue Fest 2 this summer with Godsmack, Theory Of A Deadman and others.
