Foo Fighters spend weekend at White House
Foo Fighters performed on Saturday (July 4th) as part of the White House festivities to celebrate Independence Day, according to TheHill.com. The party on the South Lawn, at which President and First Lady Barack and Michelle Obama hosted 1,200 members of the military and their families, included a six-song set from Dave Grohl and his crew. Jimmy Fallon hosted the event, which concluded with fireworks on the National Mall. Grohl was said to "visibly excited" about the opportunity when RollingStone.com caught up with him near his Los Angeles home a few days before the show, and he and the other members of the band were seen snapping photos of themselves in front of the White House during soundcheck. The gig was the first for Foo Fighters since late last year, when Grohl announced they were going on hiatus.Meanwhile, fans are buzzing online about the news that Grohl has teamed up with Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones and Queens Of The Stone Age singer/guitarist Josh Homme in a new, unnamed project. The trio are said to be putting the finishing touches on an album, although as reported last week, no details about the project have been confirmed or announced.
Grohl has worked with both men before, with Jones playing piano on Foo Fighters' 2005 album, In Your Honor. Grohl told us at the time how much he enjoyed working with one of his heroes: [

I mean, the guy's amazing. He was so cool, I love him." Foo Fighters have been on a break since finishing the touring cycle for their last album, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, which came out in the fall of 2007.
Foos bassist Nate Mendel will reunite with his old band, Sunny Day Real Estate, for a tour later this year.
