Metallica films show for DVD release

Metallica filmed its concert in Nimes, France on Tuesday night (July 7th) for an upcoming DVD release, but the catch is that the disc will be available only in France and through Metallica's official website, Metallica.com. Since it's a French product, you'll also need an all-region DVD player in order to watch it in North America. The DVD will arrive on October 19th. Metallica also documented one of its three recent shows in Mexico City for DVD, although that looks like it will be released in Latin America only.

The French concert will be available to view for free at WorMee.com from July 10th through the 13th to anyone in the world who registers at the site.

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich told us recently what has made the band's latest stage production different from previous tours: [ Click to listen if you have a backstage pass] "One thing that we don't have out there that a lot of people actually don't really think about that we don't have -- we don't have video screens. And because we don't have video screens, guess what happens when you don't have video screens? People look at you, and so they feel, like, a lot closer. Not having video screens, this is the first time in 20 years we don't have video screens, it's really cool because people actually like, they're involved in what's going on onstage instead of standing there, you know, salivating over themselves looking up at the video screens, you know."

Metallica will be touring Europe through early August. The band starts a North American trek on September 14th in Nashville as it continues supporting 2008's Death Magnetic album.

The set list for the band's Nimes, France show was:
"Blackened"
"Creeping Death"
"Fuel"
"Harvester Of Sorrow"
"Fade to Black"
"Broken, Beat And Scarred"
"Cyanide"

"Master Of Puppets"
"Dyers Eve"
"Nothing Else Matters"
"Enter Sandman"
