More Aerosmith shows postponed

Aerosmith postponed another two shows on its current tour over the weekend, due to an unspecified injury to singer Steven Tyler. According to Reuters, fans reported that Tyler seemed to pull a leg muscle at the group's last show, on June 29th in Connecticut. The group scrapped concerts in Hershey, Pennsylvania on Friday (July 3rd) and Virginia Beach, Virginia on Sunday (July 5th). These two postponements followed the cancellation of a gig last Wednesday (July 1st) in Cincinnati. All three concerts are expected to be rescheduled, with tickets honored on the new dates. Guitarist Joe Perry posted his "sincere apologies" on Twitter, asking fans to pray for Tyler's quick return.

The veteran band is next scheduled to perform on Tuesday (July 7th) in Raleigh, North Carolina, where they are expected to be rejoined by guitarist Brad Whitford. The 57-year-old Whitford has sat out the first few weeks of the group's summer tour while recovering from surgery for internal bleeding after hitting his head. The only reason he hasn't come back is his doctors are just telling him, 'Just take it easy, relax, you don't want any relapses.' But he's doing well. Can't wait to get him back, though Bobby (Schneck), his guitar tech, has been filling in really well and doing a good job."

There was no word yet at press time on whether more shows on the tour, which also features ZZ Top, would be postponed.

Aerosmith has been racked by illness and injury over the past few years. Perry had to have a knee replaced, while Tyler had foot surgery and came down with pneumonia. Bassist Tom Hamilton also battled throat cancer.

Perry, meanwhile, told Billboard.com last week that he is holding a contest on Twitter for fans to come up with a title for his new solo album, which he hopes to release this fall. The fan with the winning title will receive a signed guitar. Perry said, "It's tough, obviously, without having heard the record for people to name it, but we may find something really good."

Aerosmith will also resume recording its next album in September.
