Two new Foo Fighters songs slated for greatest hits collection
Foo Fighters debuted a brand new song called "Wheels" during their performance at the White House on Saturday (July 4th), with a press release from the group's publicist stating that that song plus another new one will both be appearing on a greatest hits collection slated for release this November. No other information on the set, including a title and track listing, has been announced yet. Grohl introduced the song live by saying it described "the feeling when the wheels touch the ground and you're like 'Oh, God, I'm glad that's over with, man!'"Grohl told us that writing new songs is not a difficult process for Foo Fighters: [

If we could throw it together, and get an arrangement together, and put it down on tape, that's kind of what we do best, you know: that simple, melodic rock that gets stuck in your head." Foo Fighters performed on Saturday as part of the White House festivities to celebrate Independence Day. The party on the South Lawn, at which President and First Lady Barack and Michelle Obama hosted 1,200 members of the military and their families, included a six-song set from Dave Grohl and his crew.
Grohl grew up in nearby Virginia and told the crowd at the event that he never imagined that he'd play at the White House.
Foo Fighters have been on a break since finishing the touring cycle for their last album, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, which came out in the fall of 2007. Grohl has reportedly been working on a side project with Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones and Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme.
