AC/DC among Touring Award finalists
AC/DC, U2 and Madonna are some of the finalists for the 2009 Billboard Touring Awards, which will be given out on November 5th in New York City. Winners are based on overall tickets sales that took place between October 1, 2008 through September 30, 2009. All three acts are up for two major nods -- the Top Tour awards, which honors the biggest money-making tour, along with theh Top Draw award, which is based on the biggest ticket selling tours. U2 is also a finalist for the Top Boxscore award, which goes to the top-grossing single engagement for the time period. The potential winners include U2 at Croke Park in Dublin, U2 at Stade de France in Paris, and the Oxegen Fest in Naas, Ireland.There's also a Top Package award, honoring the top-grossing tour with three or more artists on the bill, along with the the Breakthrough Award, which is given to the top-grossing artist/group in their first decade as a national headlining act. Among this year's breakthroughs are Kings of Leon, Lil Wayne, Taylor Swift and Il Divo.
AC/DC will be on tour through the end of November.
U2 continues its tour, stopping in Glendale, Arizona on Tuesday, October 20th.
