Bruce Springsteen cancels show after road manager cousin dies

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band canceled the Kansas City show (October 26th) at the Sprint Center only hours before show time due to the unexpected death of Springsteen's cousin, 36-year-old Lenny Sullivan.

A statement posted on brucespringsteen.net read: "Lenny Sullivan, Bruce's cousin and the assistant road manager of the E Street Band for the last 10 years, passed away today at the age of 36. A warm and sensitive person, he was beloved by Bruce, the band, the crew, and the entire Thrill Hill family. Our deepest condolences to all those who knew him and loved him."

Prior to that, an earlier message read: "Due to a death in Bruce's immediate family, tonight's show at Sprint Center has been unavoidably canceled. All tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase. Bruce and the band deeply appreciate the understanding of our Kansas City audience and look forward to returning at the earliest opportunity."

Pollstar.com reported that police were called this afternoon to Kansas City's Intercontinental Hotel on the Plaza to investigate Sullivan's death. Police do not suspect foul play in the death.

There has been no word as to whether Springsteen will sit out further shows on his current leg.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are set to play on Thursday (October 29th) at New York's Madison Square garden as part of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame 25th Anniversary Concerts.
