Guns N' Roses to tour Canada
Nearly a year after the release of its long-in-the-making Chinese Democracy album, Guns N' Roses has announced its first concert dates in support of the Best Buy-exclusive release. According to Sun Media, the band will begin a 13-date Canadian tour on January 13th in Winnipeg, Manitoba, wrapping up on February 4th in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The wintry trek will mark the band's first appearance in Canada since 2006. Tickets go on sale this Friday (October 23rd) and will range in price between $50 and $90 in Canadian dollars. The current Guns lineup -- reportedly comprised of singer and sole original member Axl Rose, drummer Frank Ferrer, bassist Tommy Stinson, guitarists Richard Fortus, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal and DJ Ashba and keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman -- will begin rehearsals in Los Angeles shortly, according to a press release.
Chinese Democracy was released last November, more than 15 years after the band's last studio effort, the all-covers set The Spaghetti Incident?
Despite its near-legendary status, the record was a major sales disappointment, moving less than one million copies. Axl Rose did virtually no promotion or publicity for the project, while videos and tours failed to materialize.
U.S. tour dates have yet to be announced, although a handful of Asian shows are tentatively scheduled for December.
