Ozzy with Metallica at Rock Hall concert

Metallica will be joined by legendary singer Ozzy Osbourne and Kinks frontman Ray Davies for their performance next Friday (October 30th) at New York's Madison Square Garden during the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 25th anniversary concerts. Other artists appearing during the two-night celebration, which kicks off on October 29th, include U2, Bruce Springsteen, Simon & Garfunkel, Stevie Wonder and Eric Clapton. Each act will play their own music, as well as music by other artists that inspired them, with surprise collaborations likely to occur throughout both evenings.

All proceeds from the two shows will go towards creating a permanent endowment for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation and Museum.

It is not known what songs Metallica will perform with Ozzy and Davies, although Metallica has recently been filmed rehearsing the Black Sabbath classic "War Pigs" backstage before one of their concerts.

The members of Metallica inducted Ozzy and his Black Sabbath bandmates into the Hall of Fame in 2006.

Metallica was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last April with a speech by Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea. Metallica frontman James Hetfield told us he's thrilled to see the Chili Peppers themselves nominated for possible induction in 2010: [ Click to listen if you have a backstage pass] "That's great. The Chili Peppers are a very unique band and have been since the very start. They've morphed into lots of different things and very versatile and you know when they're playing -- you can tell who it is. They have their own unique style and they're all really, really great guys, and hopefully they get what they deserve from that."

Metallica was joined by former bassist Jason Newsted and the family of late original bassist Cliff Burton at their Hall of Fame induction in Cleveland, where the band performed "Master Of Puppets" and "Enter Sandman."

Metallica continues its fall North American tour next Monday and Tuesday (October 26th and 27th) with two gigs in Toronto before playing at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concert on the 30th.
