Sting says Obama was sent from God
Sting says that Barack Obama just might be a sign of divine intervention. Sting was quoted by The Associated Press as joking, "In many ways, he's sent from God because the world's a mess." After spending time talking with the President, Sting explained that he "found him to be very genuine, very present, clearly super-smart, and exactly what we need in the world."Although he's kept his distance when dealing with U.S. politics, preferring to deal primarily with global concerns, Sting went on to address the right-wing anti-Obama vibe that exists, by saying, "It's aggressive and violent and full of fear. They don't want change, they want things to feel the same because they feel safe there... we seem to be living in a currency of medieval ideas."
He added, "My hope is that we can start talking about real issues and not caring about whether God cares about your hemline or your color. We are here to evolve as one family, and we can't be separate anymore."
Out now is Sting's first seasonal album, called On A Winter's Night.
Sting's next U.S. shows will be on December 8th and 9th at New York City's Cathedral Of St. John The Divine.
