Scott Weiland's ex-wife thinks he's brilliant
Although they separated nearly two years ago and are in the process of getting divorced, Scott Weiland's wife Mary still speaks highly of the Stone Temple Pilots singer in a new interview with ArtistDirect.com. Mary says about her husband, "I think Scott's brilliant! He's an amazing songwriter, and he's an amazing frontman. He aims to entertain and give you honesty. He's a really honest person. When he goes to do a show, he's going to give you your money's worth . . . David Bowie would give you a show, and Scott loves Bowie. They give more."Mary -- whose full name is Mary Forsberg Weiland -- is out promoting her recently published memoir, Fall To Pieces, which chronicles her life, modeling career, marriage to Weiland and struggles with mental illness and addiction.
Her turbulent relationship with Scott was marked by his public struggle with drugs, which landed him in jail and rehab several times. Mary's own battle with narcotics, as well as bipolar disorder, has been less documented.
She came clean about her mental issues after a 2007 incident in which she set fire to his entire wardrobe after the couple first demolished a hotel room.
Mary told ArtistDirect that she "put a lot of love into this book, whether it was for my family, for Scott, for my kids or somebody else that might be going through what I went through."
Stone Temple Pilots recently canceled some tour dates in order to come off the road and finish up its first new album since 2001.
