Them Crooked Vultures debut released
The much-anticipated debut album from Them Crooked Vultures has arrived in stores. The self-titled disc features 13 tracks from the trio, which is comprised of Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl on drums, Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones and Queens Of The Stone Age singer/guitarist Josh Homme. Homme told Antiquiet.com earlier this fall that the group has been deliberately secretive about their plans, saying, "What's funny is once you agree to do it . . . it has to work. Or it's like saying, 'Why couldn't it work between the three of you?'"Homme revealed that the project was born at a birthday party that Grohl threw for himself at Medieval Times, where he introduced Homme and Jones to each other. Homme called it a "blind date."
Grohl hinted at a possible motivation for starting the band last year, when he told us he didn't want to get into a musical rut with Foo Fighters: "If you start feeling stagnant, like you're doing the same thing over and over again, it just loses that excitement or that charm, you know. You don't want to feel like you're doing the same thing over and over and over again."
Following their first North American tour of mostly East Coast cities last month, the group will perform on Tuesday night in Los Angeles, November 19th in Oakland, November 21st in Seattle, and November 22nd in Portland, Oregon.
The band played a surprise club show on Monday night (November 16th) at the Roxy in Hollywood, with tickets available only at the box office.
Grohl's other band, Foo Fighters, issued a greatest hits collection two weeks ago (November 3rd) featuring two new songs.
