Them Crooked Vultures predicted to sell 75k in first week
The self-titled debut album from Them Crooked Vultures is predicted to sell somewhere between 70,000 and 75,000 copies in the U.S. in its first week of release, according to trade website Hits Daily Double. Official SoundScan sales figures for the disc, which came out last Tuesday (November 17th), will be published Wednesday (November 25th) on the Billboard album chart. The highly-anticipated project teams Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl on drums, Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones on bass and Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme on guitar and vocals. The group did a North American tour of mostly East Coast dates last month, and finished up a short run of West Coast shows on Sunday night (November 22nd) in Portland, Oregon.
According to British tabloid The Sun, the members of Them Crooked Vultures see this as an ongoing project and not just a one-off, with a second album on the agenda at some point. Homme said, "I felt we've only just started to pick up steam. Why would we want to stop now?" Grohl reportedly added, "When we make our second record, it's going to be even more powerful than this one."
In other news, the Foo Fighters episode of VH1 Storytellers will debut this Friday (November 27th) at 11:00 p.m. According to FMQB, the program will premiere in 162 other countries on the same day, making it the first global premiere of a Storytellers episode.
