Radiohead recorded in Los Angeles?

Radiohead reportedly worked quietly on their new album in Los Angeles last month, in order to "get away from the dismal English winter," according to NME.com. A post at a Los Angeles-based blog called "Postmark Here" reported that the band and their producer, Nigel Godrich, set up a studio at a house in the Hollywood Hills for three weeks, finishing up at the end of January and holding a "wrap party" on January 30th.

Los Angeles Times writer Jia-Rui Cook wrote the post and attended the party, saying, "I was giddy seeing Beck, Salma Hayek and Danger Mouse chatting around the same pool where Dean Martin and the Rat Pack used to hang out. (Radiohead singer) Thom Yorke periodically toyed with the iPhone that controlled the speakers. Usually he skipped forward to a Rolling Stones song."

Cook added that Godrich told her the band initially didn't get a lot of work done in Hollywood, saying "they were probably lolling about too much in the sunshine when they first arrived." But when Los Angeles was hit with a week of solid rain, "They realized someone up there was telling them to get on with it."

The post at Postmark Here has since been taken down, although it has been reproduced at other sites around the Web.

Radiohead has been working on and off since last year on its eighth studio album, which will follow up 2007's In Rainbows.

Thom Yorke and an "all-star" backing band will also perform in April at the Coachella Festival in Indio, California.
