Singer rules out Oasis as new band name
Former Oasis singer Liam Gallagher told England's XFM Radio that his new band, which includes two other ex-members of the group, will not be called Oasis after all. According to NME.com, Gallagher even put down the old name, saying, "No, it's not Oasis. That was a s*** name anyway. I'm glad to see the back of it." As far as a name for the outfit, he said, "There's one that we're digging at the moment, but we're going to get on with the music and see how it goes. If we haven't got a better one by then, we'll go with the one we're into."Gallagher had suggested late last year that he might use the name Oasis if he failed to come up with a good alternative.
The singer said that work on the new act's first album is "progressing," and that they will make their live debut this year.
Liam's brother, ex-Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher, will make his solo debut next month in London at two benefit concerts.
Oasis split up for good last summer after the Gallaghers reportedly came to blows just before a scheduled concert in France.
