Iron Maiden: Death On The Road

Iron
Maiden's biggest strength is of course their live performances and the double-disc
"Death On The Road" recorded in Dortmund, Germany during the "Dance Of Death"
European Tour in December 2003 captures the band in full action. Band leader,
principal songwriter and bassist Steve Harris personally edited Maiden's
sixth live album that follows 1985's "Live After Death", 1993's
"Live At Donington", "A Real Live One", "A Real Dead One" and 2002's
"Rock In Rio".
The album features 16 tracks of old and new material and includes most songs
that you would typically expect from a live Iron Maiden record. Standout
tracks are the atmospheric "Dance Of Death" and "No More Lies" and the spectacular
version of the Blaze Bailey era song "Lord Of The Flies". Unfortunately,
other than the "Dance Of Death" tracks, "Lord Of The Flies" is the only
new live song on offer that has not been included in any of the previous
five live albums.
Whilst a very good introduction for new fans to the world's premier heavy
metal band, for long-time fans "Live After Death" - with its better song selection - remains the definite live
album. Nevertheless, "Death
On The Road" is highly recommended to all metal fans.
