Peter Frampton live in Germany![]() Written by The Rock Radio staff, July 2005 © The Rock Radio"This is from a time when CDs were still called Vinyl, when they where 12 Inches big and you needed a needle to play them with". Some 30 years after the record-breaking "Frampton Comes Alive", Peter Frampton is on the road again and he certainly is very much in peace with his past. The British "arena rocker" might have lost most of his hair but certainly not his guitar technique. Performing for the first time in Munich (Tollwood Festival, July 4, 2005) since playing with David Bowie on the "Glass Spider" tour in 1987, he deliverd just one thing but this to perfection: pure music. From the opening lines of "I Need Ground" - from his recent album "Now" to the finishing touches of "I Don't Need No Doctor" the 55 year old Frampton rocked like a teenager to a pleasing Greatest Hits Set including crowd favourites like "Baby I Love Your Way" and "Do You Feel Like We Do". Altough craftmanship was the main issue during the 110 minute show, the concert at the Munich Towllwood Festival was not a deadly serious issue at all. "I got a German car" he told a very energetic and cheerfull audience, "of course it is the best car in the world, so of course it must be from Stuttgart" he teased the locals, aware of the rivalry that exists between Mercedes (Stuttgart) and BMW (Munich). Changing guitars 7 times, Frampton also made a solo attempt on the keyboards ("Loves Stands Alone") and deliverd his beautiful rendition of George Harrison's Beatles classic "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" as encore.
