Fans launch petition for Led Zeppelin tour
An online petition has been launched at Youchoose.net asking Led Zeppelin to stage a full world tour. The mission statement for the petition reads, "If you think that it is not fair that only people in the U.K. had a chance to see Led Zeppelin, please sign this petition...There are younger and even older fans that never got to see the great Led Zeppelin in concert. We want to be part of history. We want one of the greatest rock bands to tour." At press time more than 8,400 people had signed. Demand has been building for the group to hit the road since it reunited for the first time in nearly two decades at a December 10th performance in London. The petition's organizers claim to be in contact with Zeppelin's concert promoter in England.
Guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones have both indicated a willingness to tour, although Page recently admitted that nothing could happen until September at the earliest.
The hold-up is likely due to singer Robert Plant, who is touring this summer with Alison Krauss in support of their collaborative CD, Raising Sand.
